An Open Source vector graphics editor, with capabilities similar to Illustrator, CorelDraw, or Xara X, using the W3C standard Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) file format. Inkscape supports many advanced SVG features (markers, clones, alpha blending, etc.) and great care is taken in designing a streamlined interface. It is very easy to edit nodes, perform complex path operations, trace bitmaps and much more. We also aim to maintain a thriving user and developer community by using open, community-oriented development.

Drag, stretch, push and pull…….you can do a lot with paths using Xtream Path! You no longer have to be constrained to control points when editing paths. It allows you to drag anywhere on a path and edit only the exact location you want. Editing paths in Illustrator is much more flexible than ever before. There is no doubt you will have fun editing with Xtream Path.

This entry is going to be in context of “mini sites”, and creating a mini-site factory. For the SEO that may not be able to create additional sites(due to contracts and whatnot), simply remove the tactics you cannot use and you’ve still got a great linkbuilding and content generation setup. It’s been noted many times that often the most effective SEO is that which rides the line of blackhat(read: automation) but still stays within the white/grayhat realm(read:semi-automation).

I take a look at one of the girls wearing a bright pink keffiyah and carrying a Polaroid camera and think, “If only we carried rocks instead of cameras, we’d look like revolutionaries.” But instead we ignore the weapons that lie at our feet – oblivious to our own impending demise.

Wordle is a toy for generating “word clouds” from text that you provide. The clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text. You can tweak your clouds with different fonts, layouts, and color schemes. The images you create with Wordle are yours to use however you like. You can print them out, or save them to the Wordle gallery to share with your friends.

Parallax turns a selected element into a 'window', or viewport, and all its children into absolutely positioned layers that can be seen through the viewport. These layers move in response to the mouse, and, depending on their dimensions (and options for layer initialisation), they move by different amounts, in a parallaxy kind of way.

This ain't your mama's glossy web 2.0 orange. Learn how being deliberately "sloppy" and imperfect can add organic charm to a creation. Pick up some great uses for everyday filters. Then integrate it all into a large design.

Again, some other things that have been doing the rounds but got stuck in my pile of ‘things to look at’. These travel posters by Steve Thomas, Amy Martin and Adam Levermore-Rich promote travel to exotic eras and destinations, such as the Crimson Canyons of Mars, Tranquil Miranda, or the Winter Wonderland of the Ice Age.

If you plan to photograph a hamburger or hot dog without a stylist, you are indeed brave. What might seem to be an easy project before you begin will surprise you at how complicated and difficult it can become. If, knowing this, you still plan on forging ahead, the information in this article might save you from some common pitfalls. My recommendation is that you read the entire section on buns and burgers and make sure you have a good understanding of the techniques before you proceed. This is all part of being prepared. This article is for the brave explorers in the world of hamburger styling and photography.

Even while all digital cameras originally capture the image in color, black-and-white printing still has its charm and followers and many of those, who loved traditional black-and-white in the traditional wet darkroom, will be looking for digital black-and-white prints as well. The charm of black-and-white prints comes from its abstraction, from its strong graphic impression, from the reduction of the image to the essential. It may seem very easy to print in black-and-white—even easier than in color. But that is not the case. For good black-and-white prints you will have to do a good color to black-and-white conversion—just changing the color mode won’t do the trick. Then you need to use the right print modes to achieve a neutral or tinted print. There are also some considerations when selecting a printer suited for optimal black-and-white prints. We will deal with all these issues in this chapter.

What we need to do is use jQuery to parse the DOM, find any character matching “&”, and wrap it in a <span> tag with the appropriate class. The rest of the work is done via CSS. Sounds pretty straightforward, right? Well, with jQuery, it is.

I’ve spent some time over the last week pimping the already fantastic Thesis and thought I’d share some of the things that I’ve done to this blog (which can really be done on any theme) in the past week, as well as over the last two years. These are things with a user focus and not an “SEO one”

Everyone is selling SSL certificates. Really? Not really. It turns out that the majority of quality SSL certificates are actually dispensed from the same company in some shape or form — VeriSign. VeriSign currently owns at least Thawte, GeoTrust, and RapidSSL. In other words, they own all but one of the "older-than-dirt" high-ubiquity certificate authorities, GlobalSign. Here's the lowdown:

A sense of movement is often the differentiator between Flash-heavy web sites and standards-based sites. It's high time to revisit the CSS Sprites technique from four years ago, and see if we can't interject a little bit of movement of our own.

Over the past few months we’ve had to create a few iPhone mock ups for presentations. The problem we’ve encountered is the lack of resources to help us design something efficiently. Since we know we’ll be doing more of this, we created our own Photoshop file that has a fairly comprehensive library of assets – all fully editable.

speed/validity selectors test for frameworks. Every framework runs in his own iFrame, thus no conflicts can happen. Tests are run selector by selector, with an interval to prevent the browser from freeezing. Tests are run in a neutral environment, no library or framework is included in the main javascript test, to avoid favoritism.

Johno over at ILoveTypography.com got me thinking about my favorite fonts. I have a list of go-to fonts, but it’s not terribly interesting. On that list, however are a couple of free fonts that I love, so I decided to come up with 10 interesting free fonts that I don’t see people use that much.

a framework for automatically enhancing videos of a static scene using a few photographs of the same scene. For example, our system can transfer photographic qualities such as high resolution, high dynamic range and better lighting from the photographs to the video. Additionally, the user can quickly modify the video by editing only a few still images of the scene. Finally, our system allows a user to remove unwanted objects and camera shake from the video

WordPress default search kinda sucks. It sorts the results by date, newest first, and interface wise it doesn't have any of the cool things we're used to when we search in for instance Google. This post will explain how you can make your search experience suck less. It requires a few plugins and some work on your search.php template file, but it will make you and your users happier in the end.
